Navigating to the event creation page

On every page, once you're logged in, you can click on 'Create Content'. Two things will happen: the menu will open up with a list of options, and you will end up at a page explaining all the different types of content you can create.

Click on the 'Event' link - either will do. This will open up the event creation page.

Creating the content

Enter the title of your event under 'Event' near the top of the page.

Click in the 'From date' box. A calendar ought to drop down. You can click on the month or year arrows to suit, or if your event post is in the current month, just click on that date.

Click in the time box and enter the start time.

The 'To date' is optional. You may want to fill this in to indicate the ending time for your event.

Once you've filled in the date and time, you can add more information about your event under 'Details'.

Choosing who gets to see your event post

Once you've filled in this part, you're nearly done.

Scroll down the page a bit until you come to a section called 'Audience'. This is where you determine who will be able to see your event post. If you don't select any groups from the list, your post will be available to all users of the site.

Alternatively, you may wish to post your event to a particular group. Just select the group or groups you want to post to, and the post will be available to members of that group.

One caveat though, is that if the group is 'public' then everyone will be able to see it anyway. Groups are usually not public, but if you want to check whether your group is public, log out and see if you can still see all the group's content.

Attaching an image

You may have an image you want to attach to your post. Hit the 'Choose File' button, or if you've already uploaded an image from your user account's 'File browser', then click on the button under 'Existing image'.

Give it a title, and that's that.

Finally, hit the 'Save' button down the bottom of the page and your event will be created. You might want to 'Preview' what it will look like before making it live, but you can easily go back and edit the page if you hit the save button first.
